Petrotrin is conducting air quality tests in Marabella after some residents were relocated and some taken to hospital following reports of a smell that affected residents in the area.
In a release, Petrotrin said around 5:27 pm on Thursday, Petrotrin received a report that a smell was impacting residents of the Marabella community.
Petrotrin said upon receiving the report, the Company’s HSE personnel immediately visited the area to conduct air testing and monitor the situation.
The company said residents who experienced discomfort were taken to Augustus Long Hospital for medical review and discharged at 9 pm.
"As a precautionary measure, two families with infant children were temporarily relocated. Investigations are ongoing and HSE will continue to conduct air quality tests to monitor the situation. We would like to thank the residents of Marabella for their understanding and cooperation at this time," the energy company said.
