Twenty people, including eight children, are now homeless following a fire on Monday morning in Marabella which destroyed two houses.
According to reports, around 10:30 am yesterday, residents of one of the homes were altered to a fire on the upper story of the East Bayshore, Marabella, home, when a six-year-old boy ran out screaming.
The adults at the home worked together to ensure that everyone was safely evacuated from the home before attempting a bucket brigade to prevent the fire from spreading.
Unfortunately, the water supply was too low for a steady stream of water to be established, and relatives sadly watched their home burn to the ground.
An adjacent house was also severely damaged in the blaze.
Fire officers were on the scene within 15 minutes and were able to prevent the fire from completely destroying a third building.
